UW-Waukesha student and MATC Madison graduate, Joshua Brielmaier, 24, unexpectedly died Saturday, March 3.
“It’s still very difficult,” said Stephanie Brielmaier, Joshua’s mother. “Life without Josh is unimaginable. We miss him dearly.”
A day that was meant to be a celebration of Josh’s birthday sadly turned into a day of loss for the Brielmaier family. However, it was followed by many days of celebrating Josh’s life.
Josh had plans to celebrate his birthday with family, who he was very close with. He is survived by his parents, Stephen and Stephanie, and three sisters, Sara, Cassi, and Corrie, who Stephanie said were “very close and good friends with Josh.”
He graduated from Mukwonago High School in 2006, and from MATC Madison in 2008. As a social activist and philosopher, he was involved in a group called Campus Anti-War Network, or CAN. Josh also started a CAN chapter at UW-Waukesha 2 years ago.
While attending UW-Waukesha, Brielmaier had many interests and hobbies. He was an artist and musician, playing guitar in the group, Fat Element. Although he did not select a major, he was interested in art, literature, and environmental biology.
He will be greatly missed.
