As many students may have noticed, UW Waukesha's College Democrats have a table set up near the Hub, imploring fellow classmates to sign a petition to recall Gov. Scott Walker. Considering the complications and controversies surrounding Walker's recent decisions, it comes as no surprise that some students would disagree with the College Democrats.
Nathan Engel and Chris Cairns, students at UW-Waukesha, along with Joseph Goede and Erick Turner, who are not students on campus, showed up recently to protest against recalling Walker. The group stood in front of the table trying to persuade others not to sign. They argue that this is not something that should be discussed at school and that there's no point in doing so.
However, Matt Lowe, member of the College Democrat party, says that as students we are, "So affected by what he's done," and that student's should know, "what's going on at the state level."
Nicole Lasner also adds that, "One of the great things about UW-Waukesha is that students have the right to form clubs and sponsor events through the clubs."
For now, Dean Harry Muir has told the group of Walker supporters that they must follow the necessary procedures of getting a table and respectfully making their case.
